How to dial it in

• Pack: loose to semi-dense 12–15 g, level with the rim; avoid blocking the holes.
• Foil: two tight layers; poke evenly. Set the Provost on top.
• Coals: start with 2 × 26 mm cubes on the Provost; add a third after 5–7 minutes if you want more body.
• Purge: slow, full purges to reset heat if flavour edges go sharp.

Craft & performance

Glazed white clay balances heat absorption and release, giving a steady heat curve and clear flavour window. The five-port floor keeps draw resistance comfortable and clouds dense without overcooking the top layer.

Care & upkeep

• Let the bowl cool fully before rinsing; avoid thermal shock.
• Hand-wash with mild dish soap; no abrasives on the glaze.
• Dry completely before storing.

Quick fixes

• Harsh taste → lift the Provost for 10–15 sec, rotate coals edge-to-edge, reduce pack density.
• Thin clouds → ensure coals are fully lit; add a 3rd cube after 5 minutes; re-seat grommets to stop leaks.
