• Foil: heavy-duty, drum-tight; poke evenly across quadrants. Start with 2 × 26 mm at the edges.
• With Provost/Cocoyaya cap: start closed for 2–3 min, then crack the vents to settle flavour.
• Heat tweaks: harsh notes → ease lid/vent for 10–15 sec; thin clouds → add heat or nudge coals to edges.
